How it works
From setup to the first receipt
How a SACCO or a savings group is designed to start on the first release of Akiba Ledger, in the order most will take it.
-
Register your SACCO
Register with your email and name the SACCO or group. An Akiba Ledger account holds the SACCO’s books and nothing else, kept apart from any shop or farm account. A new SACCO starts on a 30-day trial.
-
Pick office or group mode
Office mode for a registered SACCO with a counter or payroll check-off; group mode for a savings group that meets with a lockbox. The mode sets the rules, the screens and the chart of accounts.
-
Add your officers
A login and a role for each officer: tellers, the accountant, the manager, the loans committee and the board. Set the approval limits.
-
Bring your members and balances
Import members with their opening shares, savings and loans from a spreadsheet, or register them one by one. The books open balanced.
-
Record the first receipt
A deposit at the counter or a meeting on the phone. The member gets a receipt, and the journal is in the books.
- On the phone, with or without a network; it is sent when the network returns, and counted once.
- On the web, at the office, with the same account.
The phone and the web
Officers use the web portal at the office and the Android app at the counter or the meeting. Members check their own balances in the app. There is no iPhone app; officers on an iPhone use the web.
